Reports indicate that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
