Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
